Courting In The 90's
A hot cup of coffee, a fast bite of bread
A peak at the newspaper, a day full of dread
A look at the ladies swiftly passing my way
Not enough time to even have something to say

A tug of my heartstrings, a yen for more than a view
A duty to follow, a clock always looking at you
A moment to ponder how nice it would be
If you spent many hours with a nice fellow like me

A short call in the evening, an email or two
A chat on the puter, a long list of "to-do"
A pause before bedtime to wish for some space
And find the ability to get off this rat race

A dream of a lover, a sweet fantasy kiss
A hope for a future, a plan not amiss
A time in the present that can always be spent
Just getting to know the person we met

Such is the life of present day man
When courting in the 90’s every day that we can
The marriage to follow will be just the same
All that will change is just her last name

Sigh, can I just get off please!
